Christine McLean
Music Educator
Christine McLean is an orchestral clarinetist, pianist and music educator. She is active as performer, soloist, clinician, and teacher, participating in concerts, workshops, and seminars throughout Ontario. She has an Honours Bachelor of Music Performance on clarinet from Wilfrid Laurier University where she studied with Ross Edwards, principal clarinetist of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. As orchestral player she has played with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony, the Toronto Sinfonietta, the Scarborough Philharmonic, Arcady, and the Toronto Mandolin Orchestra. She has been a member of the Stratford Symphony Orchestra since 2006 and the Georgian Bay Symphony since 2008.
Christine has worked as a Yamaha music teacher receiving training for 5 of their international group music programs in Toronto before moving to Owen Sound in 2008. Her studio in Owen Sound, Surround Sound Music, is where Christine shares her passion for music education to students of all ages. Her students participate in studio performances, local festivals, RCM/CNCM examinations, masterclasses, studio recordings, composing and other community events.
In the community Christine is part of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association and has been on council since 2012. Recently she has joined the Education Outreach committee for the Sweetwater Music Festival directed by Mark Fewer and enjoying the opportunity to enrich musical connection in Grey Bruce county.
